This vehicle had an oil change done at 137,629 miles on 1-31-15.
2,684 miles later the vehicle stopped running and the consumer coasted to the side of the road.
He started checking fluids and found no oil on the dipstick.
After adding five quarts of oil, the oil dipstick shows one quart overfull.
So this tells us the engine only had 1 quart of oil in it due to the fact it’s a 5 quart system.
Since the consumer recently purchased the vehicle (12-24-14 ), the vehicle was towed back to the repair shop where they brought it for an evaluation.
This facility obviously didn’t do a physical exam on the vehicle due to the fact of the way there invoice is worded.
“” NOISE FROM ENGINE, CUSTOMER STATED HE ADDED OIL. INTERNAL KNOCK FROM ENGINE POSSIBLE ROD KNOCK. CUSTOMER RUN THE ENGINE WITH LOW OIL. CUSTOMER STATED OIL WAS CHANGED IN JAN AND THE LEVEL WAS NOT CHECKED”” End quote.
At this point the Consumer was very frustrated and asked me to find out what happened to his vehicle.
This video clearly shows the oil filter is loose, which means it was Never Tightened Properly at the time of the oil change.
This issue caused the engine to leak oil over a period of time which damaged the Consumers engine.
Will advise the customer to contact the oil change repair facility at this point.
